The Trailblazed Sales Project was created under the leadership of the Alan Katz Group, a research and consulting organization with an emphasis on health insurance, sales and public policy. This emphasis stems from the background of Alan Katz, the principal of AKG. Alan’s career spans sales, management, government and politics. Among other positions, he has been Senior Vice President for Individual and Small Group Sales at WellPoint, Inc., served as Chief of Staff to California’s Lieutenant Governor, was an investigating attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and led one of the nation’s largest small group employee benefit general agencies. Alan is a highly regarded public speaker and a recognized innovator concerning sales strategy, channel management and sales technology. These innovations were instrumental in Sales & Marketing Management magazine naming WellPoint one of “America’s Top 25 Sales Forces.” Alan is the author of Trailblazed: Proven Paths to Sales Success which explores the findings of the Trailblazed Sales Project. His monthly column in Benefits Selling magazine draws upon insights from this book to address ways brokers can manage the changes brought about by health care reform. Alan also authors the Alan Katz Health Care Reform Blog which is a highly regarded source of information and insights on health care reform.

Steven Miller, PhD brought tremendous expertise to the cration of the survey instrument and analysis of the results. Dr. Miller has extensive marketing and research experience, including service as a Vice President of Marketing for WellPoint, Inc.. He currently teaches within the California University system and heads Miller Marketing Insight, a marketing strategy consulting company.
